Getting these up fast as I have a busy day again tomorrow and I need some sleep, so I’ll write more tomorrow but least to say it was an amazing wedding… these are a few that I’ve pulled from 2 cards from the same camera, there’s another 3 to be download =)
Now I’ve had some sleep, so back into it! Such a beautiful wedding guys!
There’s something you like about these two, right from the get go.. probably something to do with the smiles, the laughter together, the ‘one in a million’ connection they have together.. you know the one, where things go unsaid but you’re on the same wavelength, each knows the others thoughts… it’s that kind of connection.. we all have it I suppose, but it’s something I picked up on more with Paula & Jay… and of course these two love a good laugh, and they love a great photo, especially Paula! One of the hardest things when shooting weddings is getting everyone in front of the camera to be themselves.. there’s always 2 people in an image, the photographer and the subject.. I try to take a step back and let it happen in front of me, let it fall into place… I had so many “OH YES!” moments this time where everything pulled together, Paula you were amazing, the way you could visualize and add your twist.. so awesome! And Jay, you’re just a legend!
I cruised with the girls from getting their make up and hair done, popping into Fredericks for a quick bite, then home to Paula’s parents to get ready. There’s all sorts of things going on, girls running around getting ready, finding things, fixing things, adjusting things, but something must be said, it happens to me now and again… it’s the father daughter thing, the look in her dads eye, they way they want to be a part of their little girls day, but don’t want to interfere, they want the day to be beyond amazing, they want it to be her childhood dream in reality, and want to make sure that happens, but have to let it all fall into place. It’s something that moved me this wedding, and of course all the others, but this one especially. Anyway, i just love that photo of Paula and her dad down there, it’s the absolute ultimate image for me to capture and I’m so glad i got it..
moving on… A wedding in Hatchery Lawn, Pukekura Park, with blankets and scones in baskets- Oh my my my! what a dream wedding!!!
A beautiful day, sun shining, friends and family.. just pure awesome…
From here we popped down to the Port for a few, then to Back Beach… I’ve been sitting on an image for a good 5 years, never been able to do it, and in fact tried one time but got chased by bulls! But today it was on, we got it, perfectly, just how I had always imagined… Things like this happened right throughout the day really.. Jay pointed out an image on a canvas he liked in my studio and knowing the time of day and when the original was shot I didn’t think it was possible… that fell into place too, right there in front of me, I’m not really sure how actually, the sun shouldn’t really have been there at that time of day should it? I don’t know, I’m not going to think about that any more, all I know is it happened, it was there, i could make it work and so I got that shot for Jay…. stoked.
Reception was at The New Plymouth Club.. what a set up! what a party!
Now they’re off in some honeymoon destination, only Jay knew where and he wasn’t sharing, a magical surprise for his new bride! Have fun you two!
and thank you so so much for my vintage camera, it has pride of place in my studio… I’m so stoked!!!
