Such a beautiful day! Sun shining, a nice breeze to keep the temperature under control, a most awesome garden venue, a marque tucked away on a lawn to the side that looks like it was created especially for the day. Bits and pieces scattered around amongst the trees…. Simply Amazing!
We kicked off the day with the Chris and the boys at Tairoa Lodge in Hawera, a lovely B&B on the outskirts of Hawera. Tairoa Lodge were also the caterers, but more on that later.. if you’re looking for a B&B in Hawera, look no further, this place rocks!
After catching up with the boys we headed to the venue… oh wait.. firstly we dropped in to see Amy and the girls at Shnips Hair Salon – there was Amy sitting at the back getting finishing touches, she simply looked WOW! and there was a a bridesmaid with a barbie sitting on her shoulder, and a lovely lady with one of those big hairdryers over her head, and under it her hair was purple… yes, purple, like, bright purple! The scene was a good one, almost surreal! Turns out the purple was a special covering… secret.. I kind of liked the purple hair though 😉 and the Barbie… well that little barbie saved my bacon later in the day when I got barbie to take the photos for me, which achieved a wee smile just when we needed it…
Oh… back to it.. So we get to the venue where the girls are getting ready, a gorgeous farmlet just outside Hawera, Amy’s family home.. it’s not just the house that’s lovely, the family is lovely, the gardens are stunning, the feeling is awesome. So many incredibly cool stuff all around, stuff that’s always there, it’s like a little paradise for grandkids (and big kids)… There’s awesome bits and pieces everywhere, Amy’s little touches of LOVE scattered throughout the trees, but it’s not just that, they’re also things that have always been there, it all added up to be this most tremendously detailed wedding setting..
A gorgeous ceremony, a happy moment for all.. just splendid! Group shots in a perfect setting off to the side.. awesome!
For location photos we whisked away to a garden down the road, it had this fuel pump… they had a Mustang…. Umm…. Bride and groom, vintage fuel pump, mustang…. COOL!
We had some fun, the wedding party was such a great bunch, so chilled and happy, thanks guys!
Back we go and the reception begins, speeches, cutting of the gorgeous cake, dinner, speeches. A few notes… Best man’s speech was brilliant! Catering by Tairoa Lodge was simply gorgeous, the play later in the night was hilarious! the cake was beautiful, Nanna Harvey’s famous shortbread was delicious- any chance of the recipe? …(I know, family secret, but worth a shot right? 😉
The play?… the bridal party (less Bride and Groom) and a few others did a play, or should we call it a series of hilarious gags, to a poem of Amy & Chris’s meeting, traveling, and time together leading up to their special day… Huge shout out to the MC’s Peter & Janet, so awesome!
Ok, so… some images….
Thanks for having me photograph your special day Amy & Chris, such an amazing day, we both feel honoured to be a part of it.. Amy you looked absolutely AMAZING, and Chris, well you’re a legend!.. Wish you amazing things in your days ahead!
