Had an amazing wedding a couple of weeks ago!
Mellisa & Tiana got in touch from Australia and were planning an elope wedding… kind of.. you see they’re from New Zealand but now live in Australia.. actually no that’s wrong, they now live in Tasmania! But that’s another story, and we’re telling their wedding story here.. soooo….. what a day!
We started at Lucy’s Gully, when I got there Tiana had just finished setting up, after a couple of days of solid rain the sky opened up this morning and we had this beautiful soft light streaming through the trees. It was the most serene scene, and truly beautiful. Mellisa walked up the track to the clearing, the ceremony commenced. By the time the ceremony finished the light had totally changed to having more direct sunlight coming through, such prefect timing!
From here we headed around the point at the end of Stent Road where there was a beautiful stream coming down from the mountain. It’s interesting what we all see, I’ve been there so many times but never seen this stream before! Anyway, back to it, we’re on a roady! stopping at so many places that mean something all the way to Awakino- The top of Back Beach, The shed on the way through Uriti, the top of Mt Messenger, a paddock where we could see the White Cliffs. It was a beautiful day, sun shining and blue sky, but a conversation was niggling at me.. when we meet at Arborio the morning before Tiana mentioned that Mel loves the rain and hopes it’s all cloudy and intense. Obviously on a day like this day with not a cloud in the sky there wasn’t going to be a chance.. .so.. we’re shooting in this paddock and I can see these clouds coming and I can also see the light disappearing, we had maybe 2o minutes.. so off we go heading for Awakino, these clouds keep rolling in, I’m crossing my fingers… I start getting spots of rain on my car… YES! We made it! A quick stop on the side of the road at Mokau and I get the more intense shot on the beach.. so made! you know when it all just comes together, you know? like it’s meant to be? that’s ‘that’ shot, it’s the special one, the one that should be a canvas on the wall! It’s almost dark when we arrive at the Awakino Lodge, but what a beautiful place! Some lounging, some dancing, some chatting, some laughing, and some cake cutting, then it’s time for me to leave.
It was an amazing day, these two were so happy and so in love, so content with each other. Meant for each other. I’m so appreciative that I got to spend their special day with them, just amazing!
Here’s a few images from their day..
